Name: Ipek Akcali
Hometown: Turkey
Class year: Junior
Major: Music Therapy
Why did you decide to attend Nazareth College?
“I transferred here from a University in Turkey. I majored in music performance, but I knew that was not what I wanted to do. I really wanted to be a Music Therapist and they do not offer that specific program anywhere in Turkey. So, I decided to look up schools in America that offered it. There were only 60 schools in the U.S. that had an accredited program and I started emailing all of them about their programs and schools. I finally dwindled it down to Nazareth College and decided to come all the way from Turkey to Rochester.”
What do you like best about Nazareth?
“Last year I had the opportunity to live in Medaille Hall, which is the global commons dorm. I now have friends that are from all over the world. It was an amazing experience to learn so much about different cultures and countries. I am still in contact with all of them even though many of them have left and now are back in the home countries.”
